Some days, OK, most days of dieting are really hard, but occassionally you get a day where from start to finish it just feels like you’re winning. Today is one of those rare days. Also, if this post seems rushed then you’re not wrong, it is rushed, because the final season of You now on Netflix and it is calling to me.

Breakfast

I fell into the early morning autopilot mode, so before I knew it the kettle was boiling and I had a porridge pot open, so I guess it is chocolate porridge for breakfast. Maybe tomorrow I’ll change it up.

Lunch

Day two of trying to make a nice homemade tomato soup, and…. nailed it. Low calorie, nutritious, easy to make, and tasty. Sure, it isn’t a tin of cream of tomato soup, but for the low calories and all around goodness I reckon I’ve hit the jackpot. Having worked to make a tasty low cal soup I don’t want to waste it with too many added calories, so I only have 2 slices of Danish bread with the soup. Is it a chunk of freshly baked bread, smoothered with butter? No, but chunks of bread smoothered with butter are not the friend of the scales.

Dinner

First things first. Carb lite tortilla wraps are terrible! Call it a tortilla sheet, but don’t dare call it a wrap because the second you try to wrap it it ends up with more holes in it than the plot of Lost. Anyway, tortilla sheets with spring chicken sausages, lettuce and mozzarella for dinner. Not the most exciting of dinners, I’m still trying to find a low calories alternative to traditional hot dogs. We were having hot dog wraps, but the wraps that don’t fall apart are still pretty high in calories. The best option would be the Egyptian bread that we had on holiday, but for now I don’t have what I need to try and make them, plus I’m not much of a baker, maybe one day I’ll give them a try.

Snacks

Knowing the I was having soup for lunch, I didn’t want to ruin it with over snacking, so whilst I did have a packet of crisps after taking Darby for a walk, that was the only crap snack for the day. I’m tired of buying fruit and throwing it away because it has sat on the side untouched, so I opt for a banana, and then another. I love bananas, I just need to remember that when I am getting off the sofa to reach for a snack.

Exercise

When you are trying desperately to lose weight, getting to the end of the day and seeing over 1000 calories burned through exercise you know you’ve had a decent day. We started with a nice, early morning walk. Whilst he needs some work on behaviour training in the house, I’ve got Darby pretty well trained for walking. He is still a puppy so occassionally he is going to get excited and pull, but he reacts well to instruction. It is quiet so because it has been a nice walk I treat Darby to a sniffer walk around the park. It must have been a decent walk because when we got home he fell asleep with his harness still on within minutes of being home.

I don’t know what has got into me today, a bit of get up and go, so that’s what I do, after lunch me and Darby get up and go for another walk. I’m not sure why but there are loads of kids around, maybe they’re troublemakers that are let out early, who knows, but either way we avoid the park this time, which isn’t a bad thing for Darby because it gives him a bit of variety. Again, it can’t have been a bad walk because he heads straight to bed when we get in and is snoring before I even get sat down.

To finish things off we head to the gym. Again it is just a short session because we had errands to run before getting to the gym and we have to be out of there by 9pm, but we’ll do what we can. Bike and some upper body weight training, working my shoulders and my tits. I didn’t get as much done as I would like, but walking out of the gym I see that I got over 1000 active calories burned so I really can’t complain.
