Day Six

Darby was especially needy today, constantly wanting fuss and attention, playing fetch for more than an hour straight. By the time I got around to having breakfast I didn’t really want much so decided to be good and have some fruit, a banana and an apple. My tracked calories aren’t entirely accurate as I ended up having to share my apple with Darby, he loves Granny Smith but isn’t keen on Pink Ladies. 158 calories.

For lunch there wasn’t much choice, which is great because it means there wasn’t much temptation. I opt for the usual mac n’ cheese ready meal, a pack of crisps and a cheestring. It might seem boring and repetitive, but trying to find reasonably priced ready meals with a reasonable amount of calories is more difficult than it should be, finding a decent tasting one is even harder, so why take the risk when I’ve already found something I am happy with. All in lunch comes to a total of 620 calories.

As I’m getting ready to take Darby out he decides it is finally time to have a nap, which is very welcome because it means I can finally get on with things that need doing, but at the same time is frustrating as we both need a walk. Oh well, he covered some ground playing fetch, and I’m going to pretend I burned some calories throwing his toy and playing tug.

Tea is a thrown together recipe, so fingers crossed it turns out OK. Sausage and bacon frittata, with chicken sausages rather than pork, low fat cheddar and bacon medallions. Seriously trying to cut calories at every opportunity without missing out on flavour. To top it off I add a paprika and onion seasoning and it turns out lovely. I’m worried about my calories being too low though so I have some baked beans with it. In the interest of minimising food waste I end up having the whole tin, which I know isn’t great, but I’m the only one who eats beans and with the menu I have planned for the week any left would end up being thrown away as they don’t really go with anything. The silver lining is that I’ve now realised the need for having single portion servings, so once shopping is delivered I’ll have a bunch of single serving tins, yay. The frittata comes in at 587 calories, but adding the beans adds an extra 384, for a total of 971 calories for tea.

Vikki fancied something a little extra after tea, so as we didn’t have our pudding on Sunday, we have it now. I could do without, but the ice cream is low in calories, keeping me under 2000 for the day, and we’re about to hit the gym. Yummy honeycomb ice cream for only 178 calories.

The gym seems busier than usual so it’s going to be a workout of doing what is free. I start out on the bike as usual, 10 min hard warm up followed by a 5 minute intervals set. Whilst it is busy, everyone seems to be congregating in front of the mirrors, meaning I pretty much have the weights machines to myself so I work my shoulders and chest, trying desperately to turn these DDs into pecs. Before heading out to pick up the boy from cadets I fit in another 5 minutes on the bike doing intervals. Not a bad workout for a Monday night, with my watch registering 530 calories burnt.

Total calorie intake 1959
