Day Nine

What a difference it makes waking up to a blue sky and sun shining. I have a few things to do this morning so by the time I get around to thinking about breakfast I realise it isn’t long until lunch, which gets me to thinking, if I haven’t had breakfast then I can have brunch, and I know exactly what to have. We have some left over bacon medallions and chicken sausages, so brunch is a couple of sausage and bacon thins. It’s tempting to add some cheese, especially plastic cheese, but I do the sensible thing and skip the cheese, and share some bacon and sausages with Darby so that I only have what I need rather than having everything just so that it doesn’t go to waste. I pair my thins with a pack of crisps and a cheestring, totalling 588 calories.

After lunch I take Darby for a walk, remembering the compromise that we made. We get a good pace going, enjoying the weather and Darby seems to know what is owing on, keeping pace. I feel bad though because as we get to the park I see there are a few young families with little kids running around. Darby is completely harmless, but he loves people and gets overly excited sometimes, trying to jump his way to people. I don’t want to scare the kids so we avoid the park today and I make it up to him with a good sniff around the green out the front of the house. Not the most taxing of walks, but Darby seemed to be struggling with the heat, I need to get a water bottle/bowl combo to take on walks for him. Still, 343 calories from a walk will do.

I wish I had put a little more thought into brunch, because after having bacon and sausage thins, for tea I’m having a protein fry up, including bacon and chicken sausages. Good thing that I enjoy them. Along with the bacon and sausages I add a couple of fried eggs, a toasted bagel thin, a half tin of baked beans, and some HECK chicken sausage rashers. We have had the sausage rashers before and they were terrible, but the reviews for them are really good so I decided to give them another shot and this time I will cook them as instructed, and I’m so glad I did because they’re really good. Tea was oh so yummy, and only 796 calories.

The gym is near enough empty today which is just how I like it. I go for a quick warm up on the bike followed by some HIIT. One downside to being a bald man is there is no hair to stop the sweat rolling down your forehead. After the bike I go for some strength training, followed by walking on the treadmill. I finish off with a gentle ride on the bike, just to ease the legs after everything I had done in the last hour. It wasn’t necessarily the hardest workout, but with the time constraints of having to pick up the boy, I feel good about what I have done.
