Remember when I said before about wanting to have more variety with my breakfast and lunch, not always relying on porridge pots, but that for now I would stick to the plan and what was working? Yeah, this is why. I didn’t have a porridge pot this morning. I looked in the food cupboard and just didn’t fancy one. You know what I did fancy though? As a bloke two weeks away from his 38th birthday? I fancied kids cereal, specifically the box of coco pops that was staring at me. Coco pops would be fine, they’re basically just air anyway. Sod it, coco pops for breakfast it is. I pour a portion and laugh, pathetic. I pour a second portion, knowing that I shouldn’t, but they’re already in the bowl now, I can’t put them back. Even two portions looks pathetic but I tell myself I can’t have more. Now, I want to say when I was a child but the reality is up until a few months ago if I had a bowl of coco pops I would make damn sure to have a bowl of coco pops, and not a little kids bowl, a big bowl, full to the brim, so full that I had to walk like a tightrope walker to not have any of the mound spill over the edge. What would be on top of that chocolatey cereal? So many spoonfulls of sugar that it would help all the medicine ever go down. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before or not but I basically have the palate of a child. Today I managed to restrain myself, two portions was bad enough, I didn’t need to make things worse, so no sugar on top, and a sensible amount of milk. Honestly, it could have been so much worse, I’m sure I’ve had times where a big box of coco pops wouldn’t last 3 days, so a double portion for breakfast really isn’t the end of the world. I’m not sure how you get to this number from a bowl full of air, but apparently that air cost me 427 calories.

Vikki and I both mentioned that on our flight home it seemed like the plane was full of sick people. I swear every couple of rows there was someone coughing or sneezing or sniffling. Great, there we were sitting in and breathing in someone else’s recycled sick air, oh the joys of public transport. I’m not sure how there were so many sick people, they knew they were flying from Egypt, from 30 degree temperatures, right? Since we got home I have had a sore throat, not enough to complain about, just a lingering discomfort, which in the last day or so has gotten worse. Oh, and Vikki has also started to feel run down. Damn you EasyJet. Given how rundown I am feeling, I opt for not going out for a walk and instead play with Darby at home, getting him running in the garden to get his exercise in.

I’m good for lunch. I could be irresponsible, but instead I opt for a conscientious lunch. That’s a good thing, right? It is when you’re knocking back what is essentially a sausage and cheese melt bagel. When I said I’m being conscientious, I mean in the sense of not being wasteful, not throwing food away. I had a leftover bagel and a couple of leftover sausage rashers from HECK, the smoky pork ones that taste great. I did cook the rashers in a griddle pan with no oil, and the bagel was a thin one, and the cheese was half fat, so I’ve been as good as I could be. Anyway, it was yummy and only 373 calories.

For tea, we have an absolute favourite because my delivery from HECK arrived today and that means I have a fridge full of HECK Chicken Italia mince, and that means we’re having taco bowls baby! I change it up a little from last time I had taco bowls because I pass on the sour cream and chive dip, and replace it with a sauce from The Skinny Company, in this instance a Lemon and Garlic sauce. Now, the sauces from Skinny are going to take some getting used to because they run like they’re chasing Usain Bolt, but they do their job, adding a bit of lubrication and some flavour, for minimal calories, so I’m happy. All in all, taco bowls, sauce and salsa, 710 calories.

Coco pops, a sausage and cheese melt bagel, and tacos, yet I think I’ve earned a treat. What the hell? I think my calorie tracker must be broke because how have I eaten that today and still got plenty of room in my calorie budget? Anyway, somehow my calories are relatively low, so I treat myself to some chocolate ice cream on a stick, in the form of a Halo Top Gooey Brownie Ice Cream Lolly. Coco pops, sausage and cheese melt, tacos, and chocolate ice cream. #winning

Despite feeling off we still make it to the gym, though I reckon I could have had a better workout in a library that I had at the gym today. From the moment I sit down on the bike for my warm up I know I’m just not feeling it. Still, I power through and do what I can, which consists of the bike, the treadmill and some strength training. It honestly was a poor workout, but again, at least I did something.
