Day Four

We’ve reached the first weekend, which means getting to the gym is very unlikely and the temptations for food are even higher than usual. For example, the boys went to have a takeaway with their grandad today, and my mind went racing, takeaway, I like takeaway, we should get a takeaway…takeaway takeaway takeaway. We didn’t.

As we were up and about fairly early I decided to opt for a porridge pot for breakfast. The temptation started right from the moment started to think about what to do for breakfast. I know we have some spare bagels that need using, and we’ve got bacon in the fridge, we’ve got some eggs, some cheese slice, I have some brown sauce somewhere… Sod it, I’ve been good, I deserve it, bacon egg and cheese bagels for breakfast it is, except, that’s a lot of calories, but they’re yummy calories… Nope, porridge pot, quick, before I change my mind. I take solace in the fact that at least it is chocolate porridge. 263 calories.

I follow up my sensible choice for breakfast with another sensible choice, getting my backside off the sofa and taking Darby for a walk. The sun was out, but someone clearly left the freezer door open, so not as much of an enjoyable walk as it could have been, though Darby wasn’t complaining. I tweaked our usual route slightly to up the steps, not drastically so, but if Team Sky dominating the Tour de France (ahh, the good old days) taught me anything, it’s all about incremental gains. It’s not a lot but my watch calls it 308 calories.

I was good for breakfast, so I deserve a yummy lunch. I’ve worked it all out and it is still sensible for calories, even if it sounds naughty. For lunch I make crepes. Two crepes with half fat grated mature cheddar, and one crepe with lemon juice and sugar. Not the most filling lunch, but I really enjoyed it, and for the treat of having crepes the calories really weren’t bad at all. The crepes came in at a total of 349 calories, so I topped off lunch with a packet of crisps and a trusty cheestring. All in, lunch came to a total of 481 calories.

Time for tea and a takeaway treat! Well, not quite a takeaway, but it’s a burger so I’m happy enough. HECK Italia Chicken burgers, yes, they’re amazing, enough said. Top it with a slice of mozzarella, and stick it in a thin bagel. A bagel? Yes, a bagel. They taste great and compared to other nice bread options to have a burger in the calories swing it. I live on the wild side and have two burgers, all for 638 calories.

Total calorie intake 1430

Total calories expenditure through exercise 308
